Wanda Catherine Jackson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother completed her journey here on earth Monday, September 2nd, 2024. She was born to her loving parents, Jewel and John Mitchell, on January 13th, 1950, at Heights Hospital in Houston, TX. She was blessed with one older brother, Jimmy Mitchell, as well.
Wanda graduated from Reagan Senior High School where she also met and later married Norman “Junior” Jackson in 1968. They enjoyed a beautiful 25 year long marriage before his untimely passing at the age of 45. She was an outstanding wife and mother who enjoyed the piano, traveling, camping, and of course, loving her family.
Wanda was a part of the Huntsville community for over 30 years and was known as the smiling face of the Movie Gallery store until its closure in the early 2000s. Wanda was a devout Christian and a member of Northside Baptist Church here in Huntsville where she worshiped and enjoyed a loving community.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Melissa Jackson, her five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren whom she adored and found so much joy in until her final hours on this earth.
