Verbia Diane Thomas-Holmes was born on March 24, 1964, in Huntsville, Texas to Mildred Laverne Fisher-Thomas and Alton Murphy Thomas. She spent most of her childhood in Huntsville where she graduated from Huntsville High School in 1982.
Verbia accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of First New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she both sang and led in the choir and participated as the Church Secretary. Over the years, Verbia worked many jobs and held various positions. Ultimately, she retired as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Days Inn & Suites. She was loved dearly by family and favored by many. She enjoyed singing, dancing, laughing, and spending time with her loved ones.
On August 1st, 2024, Verbia was called home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by both her parents (Mildred and Murphy Thomas), one sister, Carolyn J. Thomas, three brothers, William C. Fisher, Kenneth M. Fisher, and Elisha M. Thomas, and one grandson, Xzavier L. Perkins.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband: Ricky Holmes Sr., her children: VerKeshia Holmes, Ricky Holmes Jr., and Briana Holmes, four grandchildren, Aaryn Williams, Cayden Williams, Christian Holmes, and Zy’Air Perkins; all of Huntsville, Texas. Brothers: David Thomas (Freddie) of Katy, Texas, Richard Thomas of Houston, Texas, and Mark Thomas (Mashell) of Huntsville, Texas, sisters: Emma Bernice Ginns (Sammy), Eleanor Thomas, and Cheryl Thomas, all of Houston, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives that she loved dearly.
