Stan Everett Bennett was born September 29, 1967, in Huntsville, Texas to Jasper Bennett Jr. and Marjorie Oliphint Bennett. Jasper and Marge’s little boy grew up always on the move, always doing something and always moving to the beat of his own drum. Stan loved all things music. From his younger years where he often would have his drumsticks in hand, to his music classes, to marching in the Anson Sr. High “Bearcat “marching band. Through the years he accumulated and extensive music collection and a love for all music genres; from the deep south soul, R&B, and even a little country music, all sounds he shared as “DJ Stan B” and attending every concert and music festival near and far.
After graduating with the “Class of 1985” from Anson Senior High School, Stan attended Texas Southern University before following in his father's footsteps enlisting in the United States Army serving as a records and supply specialist with honorable discharge in 1989. Following his years of service, Stan returned home to Texas finding a career in oil that allowed him to travel often bringing him near family and friends in the DMV and back to his home in the Carolinas.
He was a family and friends’ man, the mastermind behind countless family road trips, music festivals and class reunions, the expert tent maker who taught his cousins to build the greatest living room shelters with bedsheets, a box fan, a broom stick, and a stack of heavy books. He was also the adventurer who trekked everyone through all the shortcuts, backroads or cut- throughs in Morven picking up every stray animal/reptile along the way. He was also that coach teaching his son’s the game of football or basketball. And most of all his favorite pastime was rallying friends, family, or foe (any Commander or former Redskin fan) for game days. For Stan, it was all about “Them Cowboys” and his devotion to the Dallas team through thick or thin and what lead him to his other family the DCHC-Dallas Cowboys Houston Club.
Stan will always be remembered by his mother and father Jasper and Marjorie Bennett; of Huntsville, Texas; sons: Jeremy Miller; of Opelousas, LA. and Jalen Amos; of Houston, TX.; grandsons: Dakota, Saint and Noah Miller; granddaughter: Londyn Amos; sisters: Glinda Bennett; of Alexandria, VA. and (his “partner in all things” Missy Bennett; of Houston, Texas; nieces: Misty Copeland, Tara Bennett and Geonni Thorne; of Alexandria, VA., Marlena Bennett, Kaylee Stearnes, and Nyla Jackson; all of Houston, Texas; great-niece: Maci Patten and great-nephews: Jaylen and Jaxon Gray and Jaice Beamon; all of Alexandria, VA.
Stan will be dearly missed by his aunts, uncles, and a long line of cousins from the Oliphint, Bennett, Pratt, Steele, and Walker families and by his many devoted friends. It is no doubt that Stan Bennett made a huge mark on so many lives.
