On January 23, 1949 God blessed Joe and Hattie Massey with a healthy baby girl whom they named Pauline. She attended school in the rural community of
Dodge Elementary and Sam Houston High School in Huntsville, Texas. Following school Pauline married Elether Shepherd. To this union three sons were born.
Pauline worked for Scott Johnson Elementary School, she was a home health care worker and Down Home Cookin with her family.
Family was very important to her. She loved God and loved singing from her childhood. Pauline accepted Christ at an early age and continued throughout her adult years. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Baptist Church under the leadership of her former pastors, Rev. E.W. Williams and Rev. Dwyan Taylor. At the time of her passing she was under the leadership of Pastor Michael Willis. As a member of St. Mary’s Baptist Church; Pauline was a very active member. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Choir President and Secretary of Sister’s Aid Association Club No. 6. She was also Vice President of the Johnson Family Reunion.
Pauline was preceded in death by her father: Dec. Joe Massey Sr.; her oldest brother: Joe Massey Jr. and one granddaughter:
Pauline leaves her legacy to be cherished by her sons: Elether Joe Shepherd; of Huntsville, Texas, Lonnie Ray Shepherd; of Spring, Texas and Adam Shepherd (Morgan); of Huntsville, Texas; mother: Hattie Massey; of Dodge, Texas; brothers: Charlie Massey (Lola); of Coldspring, Texas and Herman Massey; of Dodge, Texas; sisters: Min. Deloris Massey; of Huntsville, Texas, Min. Olar Hughes (Willie); of Dodge, Texas and Maryilyn Massey; of Dodge, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; uncle: Rev. Ural Massey; aunts: Christian Massey and Mickey Massey and the love of her life: Demis Wyatt.
Pauline was a remarkable and special aunt that cherished all relationships with her cousins, friends and coworkers. She will be truly missed.
