Mary Morning Obituary

On May 12, 1944, our beautiful mother was born to Eldridge and Mary Lee Stubblefield in Trinity, TX.  They named her Mary (Mae) Ethel Stubblefield.

She married young to Arthur Lee Morning. It is said that behind every successful man is a great woman supporting him.  She supported and helped him to achieve his goals for over 50 years, forgoing her own dreams and desires.  She was the accountant, the personnel director, the banker, his parts and delivery person and on top of that mother to seven children.  Mary (Mae) was a great cook as well.  If anyone has had her famous sweet potato pie, pineapple cake or banana pudding you would agree.

Mary (Mae) was baptized at White Rock Methodist Church in Fodice, Texas.  She became a faithful member in the latter years of life at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church pastored by one of her favorite nephews Samuel Dominique, Jr. in Huntsville, Texas.  She struggled to get to service when her mobility became a problem but she fought until the end to get to church.  With the help of her beloved niece Vickie Colbert, she was able to continue to attend services and serve the Lord.

Mary (Mae) departed this earthly life on January 29, 2023.  She was proceeded in death by her parents Eldridge and Mary Lee Stubblefield; brothers:  Jake Eddie Johnson, Donald Ray Stubblefield and Joe Louis Stubblefield; sisters:  Moserine Alexander, Mittie Dominique, Evolia Morning and Dorothy Jean Allen.

Mary (Mae) leaves to cherish her memories; son:  Arthur Lee Morning, Jr. (Sheena); daughters:  Rose Mary Hamilton (Larry), Willie Faye Fobbs (Gerald), Melissa Morning, Kathy Morning, Angie Land (Ronald), Rayfornet Morning and daughter/granddaughter:  Mercedes Evans (Maria); grandchildren:  Roderick Hamilton, Felisha Hamilton, Brandon Alexander (Eleanor), Krishna Guzman (Luis), Nakendra Morning, Arthur Morning III (Samantha), Angelique Evans, Lyric Creag, Broderick Creag, Alexa Morning; step-grandchildren:   Jasmine Fobbs, Jada Fobbs and Darrius Fobbs; great-grandchildren:  Kai, Kory, Kay’Lee, Bryce, Everett, Elijah, Treyzyrion, Kyrion, Italy, Roman, Caleb, Aaron, A’mar, Leylah and Na’talyah; siblings: Florine Bailey, Eldridge Stubblefield, Arthur Ray Stubblefield (Barbara), Willie Mae Chisolm (Jimmy Lee) and Annie J. Craft (Frank), and a host of additional relatives and friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
