On November 3, 1953 in Huntsville, Texas , a beautiful baby girl was born to Maybell Willis and Oliver V. Harrison. Her mother named her Mary. She grew up and attended the public schools of Walker County. Mary spent the majority of her young life in Huntsville, Texas being loved and cared for by her grandmother, Roxaner Washington.
She confessed Christ at a young age. Mary moved to Houston, Texas after graduating high school. In Houston, she married Willie A Horton I, her husband of 49 years. She attended the University of Houston, where she majored in computer programming. For many years she attended faithfully at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in mission, helped in the kitchen and opened a neighborhood clinic in the church. She was recently an active member and participant at Community Christian Church for over 17 years.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Maybell Jackson, her father, Rev. O.V. Harrison, her step-father, Tommie Jackson; her sister, Susie Jackson; her brother, Edward Jackson and her brother, Michael Harrison. She leaves to cherish memories, her husband, Willie A. Horton I; her two children, Elizabeth M. Horton and Willie A. Horton II; two grand children, Willie A. Horton III, and Chloe I. Horton; her brother Tommy Jackson; her sister Rubie Jackson; her sister, Robin Stepps (Arkansas); her sister, Margo Elaine West (Arkansas); her brother, Vernon Harrison; her step-mother, Betty Harrison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, additional relatives and friends.
