Margaret Louise DeLaney was born on July 13, 1947 to James and Opal Pace in Huntsville, Texas. She received a formal education in Huntsville. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in the Class of 1965. She married Jesse James DeLaney, and to their union, they had one daughter, Nicole.
Margaret worked for the Region VI Education Service Center as a Librarian. She moved on to work for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. She retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 30 years of service in 2009.
Margaret confessed her love of Christ at a young age and continued her walk throughout the rest of her life. She was a faithful member of Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Sunday School, Bible Study, and services with her family.
Margaret loved to shop, sing, paint birdhouses, collect windchimes, tend to plants and flowers, and listen to music. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing on stationery and perfecting her elegant penmanship. Margaret absolutely loved butterflies! Anyone who knew her knew her passion for these beautiful creatures. She believed that butterflies are God’s flowers in the sky. Although quiet, Margaret possessed a subtle sense of humor that was amusing and often unexpected. Her soft and caring nature will surely be missed.
The Lord called Margaret home to eternal rest on November 12, 2022. Preceding her in death were her parents. Those left to cherish her memories include her two daughters: Nicole DeLaney and Allyson DeLaney Ross (Kirby); Her four granddaughters: Essence, Keziah, Aryana and Amiya Ross; Her brother, Arthur Ray Pace (Joyce); Her niece, Wanda Glaze; and other relatives and friends.
