Marcus Merchant Obituary

Marcus Dewayne Merchant, of Huntsville, Texas, passed away on October 12, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Born on January 22, 1975, Marcus was the true definition of joy and light. Known for his contagious laugh and bright smile, he could walk into any room and instantly lift the mood. He was truly the life of every party, always cracking jokes, dancing, and bringing people together.

Marcus worked faithfully at his job, Solomax, for over 20 years, earning the respect and friendship of everyone he met. He was a man who loved hard, lived fully, and gave endlessly. Whether he was offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a laugh, Marcus made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a proud husband to Lakeysha Johnson, a devoted father to Markita, Robert, Marcus Dawayne, Marcedeez, Dekhal, Marshae, Marcus Jr, and Tamya, and a loving grandfather to Zay’Ryn, Toriana, India, Ozias, Makiyah, Denim, and Amir, who were the joy of his life. Marcus was the beloved son of Doris Merchant and Marvin Riles, and the twin brother of Michael Merchant. He also leaves behind his siblings, Quincy, Marvin, Melanie, Meshia, and Ashunte, along with countless friends and family who will cherish his memory forever.

In his spare time, Mark D loved fishing and riding his motorcycle with his close brothers from Silver Back Rydaz, a group that meant the world to him. Riding brought him peace, freedom, and joy, and the road was truly his happy place. But above all, he loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He had a heart bigger than life itself, and his laughter will echo in our hearts forever. Marcus was truly everybody’s best friend, the one you could always call for a laugh, some wisdom, or to talk.

His legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to shine through all who knew him.
