Lonce Hileray Jones was born on January 9, 1953, to the parentage of the late Danzie and Pearlie “Lovie” Jones, in Shreveport, LA. He accepted Christ and was baptized September 1963 at New Elizabeth Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sam Price.
Lonce was a member of the DeSoto High School class of 1971. He attended Grambling State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management/Administration in December 1974. After graduating, Lonce moved to Houston, Texas, where he was employed by TRW Missions. Lonce became certified as an HVAC technician and later moved to Huntsville, Texas. He retired from Ella Smithers Center as a Maintenance Director. He was also an entrepreneur.
Lonce took pride in his work, had a passion for traveling, loved current events, listening to music, and joking with family and friends.
Lonce united in holy matrimony to Gloria Harrison in 1983. To this union, they formed a loving family with two children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest sister: Earnestine Jones Hamilton.
Left to cherish memories are a loving wife: Gloria Jones; daughter: Ashia Griffin-O’Bryant (Gary); son: Shanga DeLonce Jones; grandchildren: Amaya O’Bryant, Gary O’Bryant, Jr., Elton Monroe Jones, James Luther Jones, Tarneisha Simmons, and Rainee Thompson; all of Huntsville, Texas; siblings: Rubinstein Jones, Linda J. Mosley, James Jones (Sheila); all of Mansfield, LA., and DeAndrew Jones (Veronica); of Shreveport, LA; special cousin: Willie Roy Jones; of Houston, TX., and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends that will also miss him dearly.
