Leonce Pierre was born on August 10, 1941 to Isaac ‘Black’ and Alice Pierre in Sunset, Louisiana.
Leonce graduated from George Washington Carver High School, in Sunset, La., where he excelled in academics and sports. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. During his time serving his country; Leonce became a member of the 35th Engineer Combat Unit.
After leaving the Army, Leonce returned to civilian life in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Texas Southern University and later owned and operated his own insurance company in the 1980’s. He eventually changed careers and began working at Continental Airlines at George Bush Airport. He worked where he made lifelong friends before retiring in 2011.
Leonce was raised in faith and with reverence for the Lord. Accepting Christ at an early age; his strong faith for the Lord continued into his adult life. He was a beloved member of Greenspoint Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Victor G. Williams I until his passing on February 8, 2020.
Leonce was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Frank Pickens, Isaac ‘T-Boy’ Pierre and John Allen ‘Sonny Boy’ Pierre; sisters: Bertha Mae Minix, Rena Pierre and Georgia Mae Mouton.
Leonce leaves to celebrate his life, sons: Marvin Pierre (Saydi); of Houston, Texas and Leonce Pierre, Jr.; of Galveston, Texas; grandsons: Christopher and Xavier; granddaughter: Kamora; great-granddaughter: Chandler McDonald; close friends: Barry Little and Rodney Berlingeri; cherished cousins: Linda Jacobs (Ann) and Patricia Pierre Hall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends.
