Johnny Mahone was born to David and Grace Mahone on September 16, 1952. He was one of seven children. He received his education in Gary, Indiana at Roosevelt High School Class of 1970. Afterward, he worked at US Steel until he accepted a job at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in 1985. He worked until he retired in 2005 and in 2006, he returned until he officially decided to stop working in 2019.
He married Karen Ann Jones. Their union was blessed to see 31 years and one child Kendra Mahone.
Johnny transitioned on June 29, 2024, peacefully at his home in Huntsville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents David and Grace Mahone; his brothers Everett L. Gatlin, Otha Mahone, and Leon Mahone; his sisters Gloria Dean Mahone and Drigget Darlene Mahone.
Loved ones left in God's care include wife, Karen Mahone, daughter Kendra Mahone, sister: Adist Mitchell, goddaughters: Annette Baker and Jada Gray, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.
