Iantha Archie Jones, affectionately known as “Sissy” or “Mant” (to her grandchildren), was born on March 11, 1921 to the late Virgil and May Dell Archie in Huntsville, Texas. She had ten brothers and sisters who all preceded her in death. She attended Mount Olive School on Highway 30 until the eighth grade. She then attended Sam Houston High School where she graduated in 1939. She married Felder Jones on December 24, 1939 and to this union three children were born. She began working soon after her marriage for Dr. F. Ray Black in his clinic and in his home, helping Mrs. Black with their three sons. In 1947, she began working for the United State Postal Service in the division of housekeeping and remained there until she retired in 1981.
Iantha was preceded in death by her husband: Felder Jones, Sr., her eldest son, Felder Jones, Jr., in addition to her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her children: Mary Kathryn Solari (Philip) and Nelson Earl Jones (Linda); five grandchildren: Blanton Moore, Steven Solari (LeChauncy), Nelson Jones, Jr., Kayce Solari Williams (Dexter) and Angelique Jones; four great-grandchildren: Tyrell Jones, Kamryn Hall, Jack Solari, and Cate Solari, one great-great-granddaughter: Erin Jones and numerous family members and friends.
