Hubert Young, Jr. was born on July 26, 1947, to Hubert Sr. and Joyce Norris Young, in Beaumont, Texas. He was the eldest of six children.
Hubert received his early education, played sports, such as football, baseball and track in Beaumont, Texas schools. He graduated from Herbert High School, in 1965. He continued his education attending Southern University and A&M College, in Baton Rouge, LA and Prairie View A&M College, in Prairie View, TX., until his drafting into the U.S. Marine Corp. to complete two tours of duty in the Vietnam War.
On March 3, 1973, Hubert was united in holy matrimony to DiAnn McQuirter, and from this union three children were born.
Hubert devoted a lot of his time to the youth in Beaumont, through coaching the youth sport leagues during the Roy Campanella years of baseball and football. Known as “Coach” he would go to great lengths to ensure that all of his players made it to practice even if he had to pick them up personally. He had worked in the petrochemical industry for 37 years until his retirement. Enjoying retirement life, Hubert chose to relocate to Huntsville, Texas, and resided there until his passing on September 18, 2022.
Hubert is preceded in death by his parents: Hubert, Sr. and Joyce Young; daughter: Kimberly Feteral Young, grandparents and aunts. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: DiAnn McQuirter Young; son: Lee Eric Young (Nicole); daughter: Tesha Ann Young (Quentin); six grandchildren: Kimberly Phillips, Kendall Young, Kamri Coleman (Tre’), Jhamira Allen, Julian Allen, and Nicholas Young; three great-grandchildren: Leyvonna Coleman, Xayda Allen, and Leyloni Coleman; brothers: Eric Young, Robert Young, and Ray Young; all of Beaumont, Texas; sisters: LeEartha Randall and Gwendolyn Dupar; both of Beaumont, Texas; a host of adoptive grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
