Sister Henretta Jenkins Barkin was the youngest daughter born to the late Henry Jenkins and the late Betty York. Henretta “affectionally known as Molly” was born on June 15, 1942, in Huntsville, Texas. Molly received her education in Huntsville, Texas.
She met and married the love of her life, the late Roger L. Barkin, Sr., on December 9, 1961, and five children were born to this union. Molly accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. She regularly attended Bethel A.M.E. Church. There, she served on the Secretary Board and was a choir member. She attended faithfully until her health failed her.
Molly was a homemaker who enjoyed sitting on her porch reading her bible daily. She enjoyed visits from all her family members, especially her children and grandchildren.
Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Barkin, Sr.; her son, Johnathan Barkin; her parents, Betty York and Henry Jenkins; as well as her siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Barkin McGuire; sons, Terry G. Barkin; Roger L. Barkin, Jr. (Rhonda); John W. Barkin; and Quincy Barkin; seven grandchildren, Roderick Walker, Kristi Johnson, Brent Albert, Johnya Barkin, Jontray Barkin, Marcus McGuire, and Martraile McGuire; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; special friends, Martha Hightower and Odell Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
