Floyd Mitchell was born on March 25, 1945, in Point Blank, Texas to the late Henry Mitchell and Caroline Bass Mitchell. He was raised by his godmother, Sylvia McGowan, from the age of 8 years old until he graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1960.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Mitchell and Caroline Bass Mitchell; his brother, Robert Mitchell; his sisters, Annie Lee Mitchell Archie, Lizzie May Mitchell Grigsby, Bobbie Mitchell Spivey, Erma Mitchell Merchant, Earlene Mitchell Cunningham, and Catherine Mitchell Stone; his god-brothers Robert Archer and Roland Archer.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Deadrea Mitchell and Altovise Mitchell; his sister Billie Jean Mitchell Smith; his god-sister Essie Frazier; his god brothers Reginald Archer; special friend AJ Merchant; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
