Emma Williams Obituary

Emma Dean Williams was born to Tenolia Williams and Elzine Houston-Williams on September 23, 1931.

Emma accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by the late  B.J. Collins, who was the pastor of Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, in the Galilee Community.

Emma was a graduate of the Sam Houston High School class of 1948. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1949 where she met and married Robert C. Perry Sr. From this union one son was born. She and Robert divorced in 1952.

Emma enrolled in Erma Hughes Business College in Houston. She graduated in May of 1955.

Emma met Charlie B. Williams; of Houston, Texas. They eventually married. From this union two children were born. They eventually settled in the California Bay area; living in the cities: Oakland, Berkley and Richmond. She united with the Berkley Zion Baptist Church under the pastorage of Dr. M.T. Thompson.

Emma worked for the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. She became a Supervisory Travel Examiner. She won many awards through out her service until her retirement in 1992 from Federal Service.

Emma divorced her second husband and relocated back to Huntsville and reunited with Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

 Emma was preceded in death by her son: Charles Sterling Williams III; brothers: Gus, Roger, Webster and Winfred Williams; sister: Leola Collins. She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Robert C. Perry Jr. (Tobina); of Grand Prairie, Texas, daughter: Myra Teresa Williams; of Richmond, CA.; grandchildren: Robert C. Perry III (Taifa); of Houston, Texas, Nila F. Perry (Fiance’: Brandon); great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Elizabeth Perry and Harlee Bea Valsin; sisters: Bessie Myra Cox, Dr. Naomi Lede’ and Earnestine Joseph; all of Huntsville, Texas. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
