Obituary

Delbert Jackson, second son of John Walker Jackson and Opha Busby. Born January 22, 1931, in Teague, Texas. As a child he moved to California. He attended McClymonds High School graduating in 1949. After HS he enlisted in the Air Force as a Airman Basic. He went on to serve in the Korean War as a Male Nurse / Operating Tech. He would receive an Honorable Discharge after a four year stint in the military.

Delbert moved to Seattle where he later met the love of his life Novia Mae Greene. They were married on January 15, 1971.

Delbert was a member of different organization throughout his life. He was a part of the founders of the Black Student Union at Renton High School in Washington State in the mid to late 80’s, the NAACP in a Washington Sate Chapter as well as Texas. In the Walker/Trinity County NAACP, he served as a faithful treasurer for several years.

 Delbert was faithful in everything he was a part of. That included his love for the Lord and serving his church. During his time in Washington State he served as an Usher at Martin Luther King Memorial Baptist Church. After retirement he moved to Huntsville. He continued his faithful journey when he became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He served as an Usher faithfully from 1996 until the present.   

Delbert passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Novia Jackson; children: Lorne Jackson, Ronald Jackson, Jason Jackson; grandchildren: Melvisha Gaines, Melvin Earl Gaines, Cherita Jackson, Isabella Jackson, Jaelen Jackson and Gabriel Jackson; great-grand children: Malakai Ali, Elijah Ali, Grant Gaines, Zane Gaines, Darianna Jackson, Karien Jackson and Lovelyn Jackson; sister: Billie Wright; nieces: Patricia Sparks, Tracey Corbin and Ferrell Mcgrew.
