David Rickey Love made his grand debut into the world on March 30, 1954. He was born in Houston, TX. to Robert Shelley and Daisy Love. He was later adopted and raised by Jack and Lillie Grover of Oakhurst, Tx. David Rickey Love received his formal education from the schools in the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District, graduating class of 1973.
Rickey accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church of Oakhurst, Tx. Later in life he became a member and a faithful Deacon at God’s Restoration Revival Center Holiness Church where he received Man of The Year 2017. On September 15,1979 Rickey united in Holy Matrimony with Mary Miller. He was the father of eight children, a grandfather of twenty three, and great grandfather of one. His unconditional love allowed him to love them all collectively, as well as individually. Rickey was employed as a log truck driver for forty eight years. He was recently employed by Texas Land Clearing in Porter, TX. until his health failed. Rickey loved cooking fish and wild game; watching football; trail riding; attending church; but most of all spending quality time with family and friends.
God, in his infinite loving wisdom, saw fit to call Deacon David Rickey Love home on Friday November 19, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents. Loving memories of his life will forever linger in the hearts of his wife Mary Love; daughters; Coletha Thomas (Alan), Shontay Washington (Kenny), Lasundra Alexander (Jon), Nyeiches Love (Kevin), and Katina Love. Sons; Corey Rodgers (Kizzie), Contrevie Love, and Terrell Love (Shanika). Sisters; Lulu Blanks (Robert); Eva Shelley-Samuel (Deon), and Amber Shelley; brothers; Clifton Love, Keith Love, Glen Shelley (Patricia), and Robert Shelley Jr.: aunt: Carolyn Thomas; uncles; Joe Grover and Charles Love; special daughters: Dawnmanieshia Hines, Francheska Williams, and Brittaney McGowen; twenty-three grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Jessie and Irma Miller, Betty Norman, Katie Jernigan, Measie & Donald Ray Phipps, Odessa Hines, and Francis Norman, a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives, and very dear friends.
