Charlotte Griffith Obituary

Charlotte Louise Griffith was born on October 6, 1961 to the union of  Pastor John E. Goodman ( Houston, Texas) and Arrie Lee Smith ( Huntsville, Texas) in Houston, Texas. Her family resided in South Park as she attended Reynold’s Elementary and Woodson Jr. High. While in high school she met the love of her life and married Andrew L. Griffith Sr. from Ville Platte, Louisiana on June 30th 1979. Charlotte would continue to excel in her education and graduate from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1980. Charlotte took pride that her daughter of 6 months and her husband would both watch her walk across the stage. She then enrolled in Houston Community College. In 1981 she and her husband would then move to Ville Platte, Louisiana and reside there until 1987. In 1987 she moved back to Houston with her husband to pursue employment opportunities for them both. Charlotte’s places of employment included: Ville Platte Health Unit (4 years), Food 4 Less (4 years), Houston I.S.D. bus services (14 years), Customer Service Manager at Walmart (1 year), and M. D Anderson Cancer Center (7 years).  Charlotte's professional certifications included her commercial driving license, management certification, as well as typing.

Charlotte gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended Unity Baptist Church where her father was the Pastor, later her brother John H Goodman would continue as Pastor after her father retired. As an adult she also attended The Fountain of Praise. Charlotte and her husband retired back to live in Ville Platte Louisiana in 2016 where she was a member of Disciple Baptist Church while residing there.

Preceding in death are her mother Arrie Lee Smith, grandparents; Howard and Virginia Smith, and Morris Edward and Helen Goodman.

Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband of 40 years: Andrew Lee Griffith Sr.; father: Pastor John E. Goodman; children: Chanicka L. Griffith, Andrew L. Griffith ( Tanisha) and Avontae’ L. Griffith; grandchildren: Derrick D. Melvin Jr., Aniyre Griffith, Dylan A. Finley, Aliyah C. Griffith, Aniko J. Griffith and Deshona Melvin; brothers: Andre Smith; of Tempe, Arizona, Lawrence “Peter” Smith; Houston, Texas, Morris E. Goodman ( Jennifer); of Houston, Texas , and Pastor John H. Goodman (Lucinda); of Spring, Texas; God child: Kayra Guillory and sweet Tonicia Marsh. Charlotte also leaves all of her loving nieces and nephews whom she affectionately calls “ Nanny Babies, a host of family, friends, neighbors, and professional colleagues whom she loved dearly.
