Deacon Charles Owen Willis was born to Henry and Henrioma Willis on July 22, 1938.
Charles joined church at an early age where he was later ordained as a Deacon and faithfully served at Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until uniting in 2019 with the Bible Way Outreach Center under the leadership of his daughter, where he was faithful until his death. As a Deacon he served in many capacities: Chairman of the Deacon Board, Church Financial Secretary as well as a member of the choir. His favorite song was “When the Lord Gets Ready, You Got to Move.” His sense of humor and way with words made all who knew him fall in love with him.
Charles was educated at Melakoff State School. He was employed with the City of Huntsville as a Machine Operator where he retired in 1989
Charles was well known for his love of coon hunting where he attended the state hunt in Fairfield, Texas yearly.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Henry King (Boo) Willis and sister: Alice Faye Ross.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years Lou Ella Willis; of Huntsville, TX.; sons: Greg Willis; of Huntsville, TX. and Michael Willis; of Houston, TX.; daughter: Sophia Willis; grandchildren: Tycoma, Shiree and Randy Willis, Christopher O’Bryant and Jasmine Davis; adopted granddaughter: Connie Dickey; great-grandchildren: Randy Jr., Tyran, Jordan, Raena and Tyla Willis, Italy O’Bryant, Christopher Smith and Kirsten Gambrell; great-great grandchildren: Kyng Booker-Willis, Kacey Willis and Kyle Jones; brother: Rev. Thomas Willis (Mary); of Huntsville, sisters: Mary Merchant and Espanola Turner; both of Houston, TX.; sisters-in-law: Gladys Oliphant and Mary Hall; both of Huntsville, TX.; brother-in-law: Charles Winfrey; of Houston, TX., god-brother: Bobbie Gerald Rivers; special friends: Raymond Isaac, Rev. LaVerne Gambrell, Howard Rogers, Rodney Anderson, LJ Cato, Rickey Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
