Cathy Louis Obituary

On, December 31, 1958, in Huntsville, Texas, a beautiful baby girl was born to Jesse Winfrey and Earline Washington. They named her Cathy Denise. She grew up and attended the public schools in Walker County. Cathy graduated from Huntsville High School. She went on to pursue higher learning attending Sam Houston State University and later Prairie View A&M University. Having a love for children, she was led to a more than thirty-year career as an educator. Her career began with Houston I.S.D. and then she returned home, teaching in Huntsville ISD; later going to Spring ISD were she retired.  Her passion for educating children did not stop at her retirement, as she would return to Huntsville ISD as a permanent substitute teacher until her passing. Cathy was never one to sit idle. She proudly owned and operated Roomers Resale Stop.

Cathy loved the Lord and united with Robinson Memorial Church of God in Christ at a young age. She loved her church and church family. She remained a dutiful servant, singing in the choir and serving as church clerk with great integrity and honesty.

Cathy loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending family time, especially sharing holidays and birthdays. Always grateful to others for the love and kindness she received. She was beautiful, thoughtful, intelligent, and kind. Our lives are truly richer having been graced with her presence.  On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Cathy crossed the finish line, her race has been won.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Elder Paul Steve Spivey, Sr. and Earline Washington Spivey; uncles: Johnny Mack Washington and Jerome Washington; aunts: Katie Lee Collins and Patricia Ann Simmons, and great nephew: Jaiden D. Spivey.
