Cassie (Young) Jenkins

Cassie Lee Jenkins was born on May 11, 1934, to the late Albert and Mamie Young in Rogers, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in Huntsville, Texas. She was baptized into the Church of Christ and served the Lord faithfully until her health declined. In 2008, she and Cornelius Jenkins married and made their home in Huntsville.

Cassie is survived by her children: Deborah Grassity, Michael Mitchell, Dwight Mitchell (Vicky), Kellye Brown (Robert), Sherri Long (Djuan), Shannon Smith (Adam), Stacie Archie, Cornelia Greene (Charleton), and Bryon Jenkins; twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings: Albert Young, Jr., Herman Young, Willie Young, Alfred Young, Bertha Brown and Billy Young along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Melvin Mitchell, parents Albert and Mamie Young, and siblings James Young, Gladys Bowden and Bessie Smith. 

Cassie was dedicated to caring and empowering others, especially her children and grandchildren. She spent well over half of her adult years assisting medical professionals as she helped them restore health to an innumerable amount of both children and adults. Cassie passed her deep love for others and tenacious spirit to each of her children. She was extremely proud of her family, and leaves behind the fondest of memories-many of which are shared regularly at family gatherings. Even as her health declined, Cassie continued to show concern for the safety and health of her loved ones. Her love will continue to live on through those whose lives she touched so vividly.
