Carolyn Jean Walker Obituary

It brought joy to John and Mattie Jewel Walker when Carolyn Jean Walker, their only child, was born into this world on October 13, 1950.

Carolyn grew up in the Crabbs Prairie and Mt. Zion communities. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined her parents as a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Carolyn was very active in church activities and was  involved  in several  ministries including Bridge, Trustee, and Worship. She found great joy in singing with the St. Paul Sanctuary Choir.

Carolyn was a graduate of Sam Houston High School in the Class of 1968. She continued her education by attending Prairie View A&M University where she earned a certificate in Automotive Service. She started in the automotive industry at Holland Chevrolet where she worked for 20 plus years. She was later employed at Hi/Lo Auto Parts (now O’Reilly) for 11 years. Her last chapter of employment was at Team Dodge Dealership where she was a Parts Advisor for 13 years until her retirement in 2016.

On August 24, 2021, Carolyn departed this earthly life headed to a heavenly dwelling place. She is preceded in death by her father: John Walker; grandson: DeMondre’ Walker and god-son: Calvin “Bud” Nobles.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: mother: Mattie Jewel Wynne Walker; children: Antoinette Desha James and Trina K. Walker; grandchildren: Darvis Walker (Beatrice), Chelsea Stubblefield, Kris Massey, Akya James and Charley James; great-grandchildren: Malayah Walker McKennah Walker and Kyle Davis II; aunt: Clara Walker; best friend: Nedgra Abbs and a host of cousins and friends.
