Carlisle was born in Richards, Texas, to Augustus and Bonner Dean Ross. He had 1 sister, Cleophus Boulden, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Midway Baptist Church, and finished his education in Richards, Texas.
Carlisle was also known to as “C.A.” or “Deacon”, joined the Navy and became a Qualified Helmsman. He also traveled across the sea 11 times. After an honorable discharge.
C.A. started his company, C.A. Ross Trucking and he delivered to the Port of Houston, and surrounding areas.
C.A. married Obbie Davis, and to this union 2 children were born, Eva and Levester. He later married Verna L. Harrison and was blessed with 2 children: Deborah and Gregory.
C.A. was the president of the Midway and David Chapel Cemetery Organization for 40 years.
In his past time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson’s that he helped to raise, that included: Vermond, Corrion, Jason, and Jeremy who was the youngest. He spent the most time with him because he opted out of working, while the others had summer jobs. He became Paw Paw’s Boy…..LOL.
C.A. was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Bonner Dean Ross; son: Levester Ross; grandson: Vermond Holloway; and sister: Cleophus Boulden.
Loved ones left to cherish his memories include his wife: Verna Ross; daughters: Eva Halloway Smith (Anthony) and Deborah Holcombe (Sammy); son: Gregory Armstrong (Schwan); daughter-in-law: Lisa Davis Ross; granddaughter-in-law: Priscilla Holloway; 1 niece, 2 nephews, eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, family and friends.
