Barbara Parks Obituary

On June 14, 1949, at 12:20 p.m., a beautiful baby girl, Barbara Jean Parks, was born to Clara Mae Harrison and J.T. Bass in Huntsville, TX. She attended public school in Oakhurst-Coldspring where she later graduated from Oakhurst-Coldspring High School.

She also attended Angelina Community College where she studied keyboarding and business classes.

Affectionately known as “Bobbie”, she later married Ezzard Haywood. She enjoyed working and was well known and employed at Boles Food Market, Water Wood Resort, Reliable Insurance, and Lifespan Home Health Care where she so lovingly cared for her mother for many years. Before her health began to fail her, she was an active member of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church where she was the President of the Aides Club.

There was not a place where Bobbie’s beautiful spirit did not leave a lasting impression. She enjoyed cooking, watching the stories, playing computer games on her I-Pad, watching T.V., spending time with her granddaughters Haley and Skylar, writing in her “Dear Jesus” journal, and singing and playing church songs on her keyboard. Bobbie fought the good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Now, she is gone to a place not made by hands, eternal in the heavens. She will be truly missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Clara Mae Harrison Parks and father J.T. Bass; special uncle, Eugene “Shag” Harrison. Brothers: Ray Parks and Johnny Charles (Norma Jean) Parks.

She leaves precious memories with Ezzard Haywood; sons Ricky Parks, and Ezzard (Dr. Phelecia) Parks. Sister, Sherry Ann Stanley; Grandchildren- Haley and Skylar Parks. Stepsons, Pharnell Norman, and Chris White. Special cousins: Arthur, Esther, Sametra, and Dorothy Harrison; Odell and Jessie Plattenburg, and Pastor William and Ruby Denman. She leaves to cherish her memories with a host of nieces and nephews as well as special friends: Ida Lee Hill, Betty Hill, Betty Miller, and Mohammed Nadeem.
