Alma Faye Maxey McGuire was born July 26, 1934 in Huntsville, Texas to the late Horace Maxey Sr. and Pearl Marie Shaw Maxey.

Alma was reared in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. Alma received her formal education through the Huntsville School system in Huntsville, Tx. She also attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Later in life Alma moved to California where she resided for a number of years until she moved back to Texas to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She later met the love of her life, Mr. Gernoid McGuire and married. That bond lasted until his death.

 As her health began to fail, she moved to Joliet, IL to be with her daughter, Sonya where she resided until death. Her journey was completed on September 3, 2021.

Alma leaves to cherish her memories 5 children: Rev. O’Hara Maxey (Peggy), Rev. Barry Erwing (Gloria), Ivan Pettus, Sonya Pettus-Salonis and LaRhonda Moore; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
