Tommie
Hollman
Jan 30, 1942 — Apr 26, 2026
A dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, Tommie Lee Houston Hollman was called home to her Sender, the Lord Jesus Christ, on April 26, 2026, after eighty-four remarkable years. Born January 30, 1942, in Saline, Louisiana, to Leona Houston Barfield and Porter "Poda" McNeal, she was raised by her grandmother, Florence Houston, who instilled in her a foundation of faith, wisdom, and hope. Through their example, she learned prayer, perseverance, and the Word of God.
Tommie grew up on a farm, developing a strong work ethic that guided her through a 40-year career at Kroger Warehouse. In 1958, she married her beloved husband, Deacon Jessie James Hollman. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family, serving faithfully at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church for over thirty years.
A true matriarch and eldest of 21 siblings, she was a guiding light to her family and community. Known for her generous heart and unmatched gifts in the kitchen, her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable meals that brought people together. She was deeply family-oriented, gentle in spirit, and full of quiet wisdom. Her laughter brought joy, and her kindness uplifted all who knew her.
Tommie was musically gifted and found joy in gospel music. Mother Tommie's life was a testament to love, humility, faith, and service. She lived in a way that blessed others simply by knowing her.
Tommie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, grandmother, mother, and father. Her precious memories will be cherished by her eight children: Barbara Ann Hollman-Daniels; Jessie James Hollman Jr.; Jerry Wayne Hollman; Wilietta Hollman and Paul Ogbevoen; Sonia Ledeana Hollman; Curtis Gean Hollman; Katherine Hollman; and James Edward Hollman. She also leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and a host of dear friends who will forever carry her spirit forward.
