Gambrell
Nov 3, 1921 — Feb 16, 2024
On August 25, 1942, at the age of 21, Thomas joined the U.S. Navy and served until he was honorably discharged on December 20, 1945. Shortly thereafter he met and married the love of his life, Mary Rita Flores. From this union of 75 years, 9 children were born.
Thomas was employed in various roles and positions until he became self employed as a demolition contractor for the city of Huntsville for over 50 years. He loved gardening in his spare time and was an avid reader of the bible. At a young age he joined St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and he remained active until his health began to decline.
Thomas was honored on his 100th birthday by the Veterans Museum in Huntsville, Texas, which was attended by family and friends. In regard to that celebration, he said that it was one of his most memorable moments that he cherished dearly.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beautiful wife: Mary Rita Gambrell, and his son: Bruce Gambrell.
Those that have been left in God's care include his children: Thomas Jr. (Margaret), Donald, Michael, Deborah (Caesar), Mary Lynne, Cathy, Gwendolyn (Elmer), and James, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
