Shonda was born July 24, 1980 in Shepherd, TX to Rose Hornsby and Lawrence Henderson. She grew up in Moss Hill, TX and graduated from Hardin High School in 1999. Shonda was an outstanding scholar. She received various awards in the areas of mathematics, fine arts, and physical fitness.
After moving to Shepherd, Texas, she began working at an assisted living facility where she administered medication to patients. Shonda had a heart of gold and a passion for serving and making a difference in the lives of others.
In 2007, she secured a position with Texas Health and Human Services as a clerk where she excelled and was later promoted to office supervisor. Shonda demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic. She worked with the agency for 13 years.
During the majority of Shonda's young adult life she was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred C. Holiday. In later years she joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe Scott.
Shonda's warm and infectious smile could light up any room. Her legacy is one of undeniable beauty, grace, and unwavering strength. The mark that she continues to leave on our hearts will serve as a constant reminder of God's love, as she was a conduit of it.
Shonda was preceded in death by her brother: Vincent Baines. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother: Rosemary Hornsby; step-father: Wenford Hornsby; father: Lawrence Henderson (Sarah); brothers: Javarus Williams (Claire) and Lawrence Henderson Jr; sister: Tiffany Mapps, niece: Abigail Williams; aunts: Vivian Brown (Earl), Maude White (Shelton); uncles Larry, Ray, and Richard Williams; Joseph, Maurice, Theotis, James, and Robert Henderson; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
