Roderick Wayne Johnson Sr. was born on March 15, 1970, to David and Ethel Mae Johnson, Roderick grew up with a deep love for his family and a strong work ethic, values he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Mac Arthur Senior High School, class of 89', Roderick worked various jobs until he found his passion and pursued a career in construction where he was a longtime valuable employee at Waters Construction Co. His dedication and skill made a lasting impact. He was known not only for his professional accomplishments but for his kindness, generosity, and unyielding devotion to helping his family and others. Roderick was always ready to lend a hand whenever someone needed him. He was a friend who left an impression on many and was known for his effortless charm and grace.


Roderick Wayne Johnson Sr., 54, of Phelps, Texas, passed away peacefully September 22, 2024. Roderick was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to all who knew him.


As a father, Roderick was a source of strength and wisdom for his children, always offering guidance and love. His sense of humor, authenticity and infectious laughter brought joy to every family gathering. He cherished the simple pleasures in life—whether it was spending time outdoors, attending family barbecues, or cheering on his favorite football team "DC4L". His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished for generations to come.


Roderick is survived by his children, Tra'Neisha Deloach (Sean), Roderick Johnson Jr., Kanetrell Johnson, Rodtavian Johnson, and Latavian Johnson; and his grandchildren, Ireanna, Aaliyah, Aburi, Sean Jr., London, Azariah, Melvin, Ariyah, Ayla, Micah, Roderick III, Sammy Jr., Savion, and Shamar. He also leaves behind his siblings Tammy Justice Marcelous, Katrina Bennet, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.


He is preceded in death by his parents: David and Ethel Mae Johnson, his sisters: Cynthia Eleby, Charlotte Johnson-Gregory, Teresa Williams, his brother: Isaac Wiggins, his maternal grandparents: Felma and Hortencia Justice, and paternal grandparents: Claudie and Carrie Stone-Johnson.


Roderick will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his generous spirit, and the positive impact he had on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a blessing, and his memory will forever be a treasure.
