Ray Ennis was born on July 5, 1939, in Huntsville, Texas to Dailey and Mable Jones Ennis.

Ray, a native of Huntsville, attended school in the Walker County community. He was employed for several years at Walker & Byrd Lumber Co. where he eventually retired.

Ray was preceded in death by his; wife: Theresa Maye Wiley-Ennis; daughter: Kim Merchant; his parents; siblings: Frances Wilson, Albert Morgan, Ruth Johnson, Ezekiel Morgan, Lessie Dickey and Johnnie Mae McNeese.

Ray leaves behind fond memories with his children: Leslie Stewart, Paul Merchant (Tamika), Maye Ross (Fred); Pamela Wright (Jermaine) and Lattrice Ferguson; grandchildren: Rachael Timmons (Tyrelle), Brittany Stewart, Cathy Thomas, Cedrick Sparks, Fredrick Sparks, Anthony Ennis, Michael Ennis, Unique Ennis, Mashayla Hayter (Lakedran), Annalecia Merchant, Shericka Merchant, Desmund Vaughn, William Merchant, Shaquille Merchant; 22 great-grandchildren, and special friends: Georgia Merchant and Bobbie Lou McGowan, along with a host of additional relatives and friends.
