February 21, 1955, Merlene York brought joy to her parents, Olllie and Herbert Sr., in Huntsville, Texas. Merlene attended and received her formal education from Huntsville I.S.D.

She had a strong belief in the Lord. Merlene also enjoyed cooking and fishing, and had a lot of love for her family. Merlene departed this life on June 17, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert Sr. and Ollie; Brother, Herbert, Jr.; and sisters, Audrey and Connie.

Merlene leaves behind daughters: Sharon of Huntsville, Texas, and Shana of Conroe, Texas; son: Eric of Huntsville, TX; grandchildren: Brianna Evett Ross of Willis, TX; Jeffery Dirden, Jr. of Houston, TX; Ladayusea Perkins of Bryan, TX; and one great-grandchild: Beaudynn Khash Ross of Willis, TX.; siblings: Allen York, Bryan Keith York of Huntsville, TX; Marietta York of Huntsville, TX; Brenda Davis of Houston, TX; Linza York of Huntsville, TX.; aunts: Louberta York, Alberta York, Vera York, and Jewel York of Huntsville, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends that will miss her dearly
