Obituary

Mary Jane Johnson was born December 06, 1952, in Grimes County to Brazel Lakes and Alvernia Archie. She was the oldest of eight siblings and raised in a household of fourteen children where she learned to nurture others.

Mary was a strong believer who openly accepted her faith in the Most High at an early age. She graduated high school and soon married the love of her life, Donald Johnson, in 1971. They had a son, Reginald, before relocating to Dallas, Texas, where they had two more children, Alonzo and Donna.

Mary was known for her unparalleled strength, courage and willpower. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in simple things. She enjoyed spending time with family and playing the slots was her favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; brother, Carl Archie (Patricia); parents, Brazel and Alvernia; and maternal grandparents, Claude and Murdie Isaac.

She leaves to treasure her precious memories to three children, Reginald, Alonzo, and Donna; her favorite SIL, Shundall Rice; seven grandchildren, Deldrick Johnson, Alonzo Johnson Jr., Carlos Johnson, Jaden Johnson, Josiah Johnson, Mayte and Isai Palacios; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Lockie) and Alexander Archie (Augustine); four sisters, Sarah Ross (Roy), Debra Ross, Ella Dinkins, and Wilma Justice (Michael); a host of nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives.
