Obituary

Naomi Lede was born to Tenolia and Elzine Williams, March 22, 1934. She was one of nine children born to this union. Naomi attended Samuel Walker High School, Mary Allen College, Texas Southern University, The University of Texas @ Arlington, and The University of Houston.


On March 15, 1965, Naomi was united in holy matrimony to Wilson A. Lede. There were two children to this union. Naomi was a faithful member of St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church of Huntsville, Texas.


Dr. Naomi Lede' was a former Educator and author, a distinguished professor emeritus, founder of TSU's Center for Transportation Training and Research, former board member of the Houston METRO Board, former board member of the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, a Senior Research Scientist at the Texas Transportation Institute, Texas A&M University System, developed the first bachelor's degree in Airway Science Aviation at Texas Southern University, and writer for the Huntsville Item.


She has authored ten books and generated many papers and reports on critical issues for the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Texas Department of Transportation. She is considered a foremost expert in Urban Transportation Planning.


Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Wilson Andrew Lede: sisters: Ernestine Joseph, Leola Collins, and Emma Dean Williams; also, four brothers: Winfred, Webster, Roger, and Gus Williams. She was also preceded in death by a host of nieces and nephews.


Naomi is survived by her children: Paul Lede' of San Antonio, Texas and Susan Lede' of Pearland, Texas; Bessie Cox; of Huntsville, Texas, three grandchildren; Rayna Fretty, Jeffrey Andrew York II, and Caelyn Lede; nephews; Harvey Collins, Donnie Williams, Gregory Cox, Wilburn Cox Jr., Bobby Perry, and Roger Bernard Williams, stepson; Panell Kizzie, nieces: Jimmy Raye Edney, Jeanette Brown, Michelle Joseph, Sharon Joseph, Sandra Jean, Mary Williams, and Angela Nicole Williams, step daughters; Barbara Ross, and Dreamlyn Ross and a host of additional relatives.
