Doreatha (Norman) Miller was born on January 28, 1955, in Blanchard, Texas, to the late Ollie B. Norman and her surviving mother, Oreatha Norman. At a young age, Doreatha accepted Christ and began a lifelong journey of faith. She grew up and attended school in Coldspring, Texas.

Doreatha later married the love of her life, the late Louis V. Miller of Point Blank, Texas. Doreatha entered their marriage as the proud mother of her two-year-old daughter, Gloria, whom Louis lovingly embraced as his own. To their union, one son, Avery, was born. Together, Doreatha and Louis raised their two children and built a loving home centered on faith, family, and togetherness.

Affectionately known as "Doe" by family and friends, Doreatha was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the love she shared with everyone she met. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Doreatha was a hardworking woman who took great pride in caring for her family and serving others. She worked as a cook at Waterwood and later spent many years working at Dairy Queen. She eventually went on to work at Jerry’s Restaurant, where she became well known for her delicious homemade desserts, especially her cakes and pies. However, her famous tea cakes held a special place in the hearts of family and friends. Family members would travel near and far or simply call with a special request for a batch of Doreatha’s tea cakes. Her cooking and baking were more than talents—they were expressions of the love she so freely shared with others. When her days of working in the kitchen came to an end, Doreatha found another way to do what came naturally to her—care for others. She began cleaning homes for families and caring for their children. Whether she was preparing a meal, helping maintain a home, or nurturing a child, Doreatha put her heart into everything she did. Her caring and giving spirit were not simply something she talked about; it was reflected in the way she lived her life and served others. More than anything, Doreatha treasured her family. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, caring daughter, affectionate sister, proud grandmother, beloved aunt, and devoted godparent. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself freely to make sure those she loved were cared for.

Doreatha was preceded in death by her husband, Louis V. Miller; her father, Ollie B. Norman; her sister, Brenda Nickerson; and her beloved grandson, Thadrick Stella.

Doreatha leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved daughter, Gloria Norman of Arlington, Texas, and Gloria's former husband, Eddie Farmer of Burleson, Texas, whom Doreatha continued to love and treasure as her son-in-law; and her devoted son, Avery Norman (Kerry Arnold) of Point Blank, Texas. Doreatha was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart and brought tremendous joy to her life. Doreatha's love extended far beyond her immediate family. Throughout her life, she opened her heart and home to many children, loving and nurturing them as if they were her own. Among those who held a special place in her heart were her beloved godchildren: Nina Norman, Jeremy Norman, Donte Scott, Cam Shaw-Rucker, and Tadrean Shaw-Rucker. She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved siblings: Earlie B. Norman; Arthur Ray Norman (Janice); Rosie Patterson, whose husband, the late Jimmy Patterson, preceded her in death; Luevera Norman; Patricia Bell (David); Donial Norman (Dee); Carlos Norman; and Diane Norman.

Doreatha also leaves to cherish her memory her loving in-laws, whom she embraced as family, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members that included the many children that she raised as her own, and dear friends. Each held a special place in her heart and will forever carry the memories of her love, laughter, kindness, and beautiful spirit.
