Dianne was the second of two children, born to Josephine Mitchell and Joseph Russell Lewis, on May 26, 1945. Dianne peacefully transitioned on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 80 years of age.
Dianne attended Lothrop Elementary School, graduated from Technical High School, and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at University of Nebraska at Omaha. After graduating from high school, Dianne married Milton Edward Graves and brought into the world two sons, Darnell Vaughn and Edwin Dean Graves. In 1977, Dianne married Lawrence Radcliff Myers and brought forth a daughter Monique Tiffany and remained married for 48 years until her death November 2025. Dianne began her career in community activism and advocacy with her employment at the Greater Omaha Community Action organization (G.O.C.A). After her marriage to Lawrence, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she worked at State Farm and Allstate Insurance.
When Lawrence accepted a position with the State of Texas, the family relocated to Huntsville, TX where she called home for 25 years. Dianne opened 'Box 'N Mail' – a successful small business that provided packaging and shipping for her customers. She was very active in the local and state-wide branches of the NAACP. Additionally, she was an active member of The Walker County Democrat Club, serving a term as secretary, and provided support to university students in their political endeavors. She further embraced her civic interests as an integral participant in the revitalization of the Sam Houston Cultural Center.
Dianne pursued her interests in interior design and floral arrangement by completing classes at Sam Houston State University. Whenever there was an opportunity to travel, Dianne and Lawrence enjoyed trips around the country and abroad.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Russell Lewis, Josephine Mitchell (Lewis) Anderson, and Martin L. Anderson Jr; and, her sons Darnell and Edwin (Dino).
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Lawrence Myers (Huntsville, TX); sister, Shawn Renae (Lewis) Marshall (Omaha, NE) and brother-in-Law, Bill Marshall (Manhattan, NY), daughter, Monique Tiffany Myers (Huntsville, TX); step-children: Marta Marks (Round Rock, TX), and Michael Moore (Concord, NC); grandchildren: Darnell Jr., Damone, and Monell Graves; six great-grandchildren (Indianapolis, IN); niece, Chanin Howell (Omaha, NE); nephews, Todd Alexander Wilson (New Jersey), and Jayson Marshall (Manhattan, NY); loving cousins: Richard Kimsey (Chicago), Victor Kimsey (Sumter, SC); Bruce (Pat) Mitchell (Oxon Hill, MD); Joan Mitchell – Momoh (Las Vegas, NV); Phyllis Mitchell-Butler (Omaha, NE); Jerome (Pat) Mitchell (Upper Marlboro, MD); Virgil Mitchell, Jr (Omaha, NE); Cecilia Gundy (Dallas, TX); other extended family and a host of friends.
A 'Celebration of Life' will be held in Huntsville TX on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
