Clementine
Bibbs
Jun 1, 1926 — Nov 23, 2024
Clementine Bibbs, affectionately known as "Sweet," Clementine Bibbs was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister, Niece, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. She was born on June 1, 1926, to Tanzy Griffin and Jimmy Grant as the fourth of eight children.
"Sweet" accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Thessalonia Baptist Church in Riverside, Texas, where she also attended school.
She later moved to Huntsville, Texas, where she built a lifelong home. There, she married and lovingly reared her seven children: Will, Larry, Linda, Jackie, Michael, Kenneth, and Tommy. In addition, she was blessed with two bonus children, Helen and Maurine, and lovingly reared her eldest grandchild, Wayne, as her own.
Sweet had many job opportunities but the one she treasured most was working with the Meyers family and while they were her employer they became friends.
Sweet's life was well lived; she loved her children/grandchildren deeply, and they loved her in return. Her life was one filled with love and service. Her home was always filled with family, fun, laughter and good food. She was wise, kind, and full of grace. She was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of many who knew her in some special way.
Sweet found joy in simple pleasures—fishing with her sisters, cooking, going to church, attending yard sales with her daughters and grandchildren, raising the prettiest chickens in Huntsville and sharing their eggs, going on bus trips with her siblings, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with her children. She loved sitting on her front porch and speaking and waving to everyone who passed by. She loved visiting her children, grandchildren and attending their events all over Texas.
On November 23, 2024, Sweet transitioned to be with the Lord at the age of 98. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tanzy and Jimmy; husband, Frank; sisters, Mary, Johnnie, Virginia and Lois; brothers, M.C., Carl and Billy Jack; sons, Will and Larry; daughter, Linda and grandchild, Leslie.
She leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by her children: Jackie (Don), Michael (Pam), Kenneth (Viveca), and Tommy (Tamika). She also leaves a legacy of love to her 21 grandchildren, Wayne, Kathy, Karen, Wendy, Wade, Malinda, Lawrence, Tony, Tyrone, Ashley, Jaleesa, Ebony, Leslie, Amber, Princess, Mikel, Christie, Nariah, Tamralyn, Kenny and Allena, 50 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
