Obituary

Clarence “Uncle Wes” Dominy was born on August 11, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to Clarence Bradley and Treva Claudean Dominy. From the very beginning, he was a cowboy through and through. Whether he was riding in rodeos with his younger brother Doug, casting a line on the water, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Wes felt most at home with dirt on his boots and the people he loved nearby. To know Wes was to know a man with a heart bigger than Texas and a temper that could arrive just a little quicker than everyone would’ve preferred. He wasn’t one to sugarcoat his opinions, but if you were one of “his people,” there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for you. He loved fiercely, protected relentlessly, and stood by those he cared about without hesitation. He was especially proud of his children. He wasn’t the kind of dad who handed out long speeches or endless hugs, but his love was never in question. It was shown in the way he provided, protected, and always made sure they knew they mattered. That was just Wes.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Bradley and Treva Claudean Dominy; his older brother, Bill; his sisters, Cheryl and Cathy; his beloved daughter, Shayla; and his nephew, Billy.

Wes leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Dorothy Dominy; his daughter, Amanda Lovrek and her husband, Joe; his son, Dylan; and his cherished grandchildren: Izeyah, Marina, Zack, Aidan and husband AJ Pryor, Nevaeh, AJ Rightmire, Michelle, Nathaniel, Nehemiah, Carleigh, Memphis, Lyndsey, and baby Delilah. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Malachi, Luca, and Alya. He is also survived by his sister, Lou; his brother, Doug, and sister-in-law, Sheila; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who all have stories they’ll be telling for years to come.

Before his journey came to an end, Wes made peace with the Lord. On July 9, 2026, he rode off into his final sunset. Fittingly, he spent his last day surrounded by the people who meant the most to him: his brother Doug, sister-in-law Sheila, his beloved Dorothy, his niece, Cassie, his “favorite person,” Audrey (if you know, you know), Cody his favorite fishing buddy, his daughter, Amanda; son-in-law Joe, and grandson; Zack, and best friend, John.

If heaven has horses to ride and fish that are always biting, we’re pretty sure Wes has already found them. He leaves behind a family that will miss his stories, his stubbornness, his laughter, and even the occasional grumbling. While our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing he knew the Lord and that this is not goodbye forever. We rejoice in the promise that one day we’ll see him again, where every tear will be wiped away, every reunion will be sweet, and every sunset will last forever. Until then, ride easy, Uncle Wes.
