Charles received his formal education in Tyler, Texas, and graduated from John Tyler High School. During his time in school, he was very active in football, track, and swimming. He attended Texas Southern University, where he was voted most popular. He was friendly, outgoing, and quick witted, and charming! He trained and took a position as a Law Enforcement Officer, in the Canine Special Forces Unit. He had 45 years of canine handling and training. He thrived and truly enjoyed his work. He brought much experience and knowledge to the Special Forces Unit. He enjoyed dog training, cooking, barbequing and most of all spending quality time with his son and grandsons. In his younger years, Charles was baptized after accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior, becoming a member of the True Vine Baptist Church, in Tyler, Texas. In his adult years, he also truly enjoyed teaching the men's Sunday School class. He met and made many good friends after joining Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev.
