Alex Brooks Jr. entered this world on March 13, 1953 in Shiro, Texas to Frank and Edna Mae Smithers-Brooks.

Alex received his formal education in Huntsville where he graduated from Huntsville High School in 1971. He furthered his education courses at San Jacinto College North in 1994.

Alex displayed good work ethics while working at Katoen Natie USA. He worked there for several years and eventually retired as a supervisor in 2013.

Alex spent his days at the Julia C. Hester House and the Northeast Multi-Service Center where he was well known, respected and loved by so many. All that he came in contact with knew him as "Mr. Brooks".

Alex had a love for Christ. He attended Sunlight Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories, his children: Alex Brooks Swift, Alquince Brooks, Mardie Brooks-Branch (Dante) and Katina Brooks; grandchildren: Jae'anna Brooks, Zachary Branch, Larry Wynne III, Mason Branch and Kasen Evans; siblings: Maetosie Sanders, Robert Brooks, Ella Thomas, Earnest Brooks (Melanie) and Felinda McBride, along with a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
