Jannie Woods Obituary

Jannie blessed the world with her presence on Saturday, December 26, 1936, as she began her life’s journey with her twin sister Fannie Ray Lewis. Gracing the presence of Gospel Hill, they were born to the loving and proud parents Bicili and Lee Williams who preceded her in death.

Throughout her life she always put God first and remained steadfast in her faith. She was a proud graduate of Sam Houston High School ~ Class of 1954 in Huntsville, Texas. With the blessings of being raised in a loving and Christian home, Jannie received Christ at an early age.  She was a faithful member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas for many years. Upon moving back home she united with St Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. W Williams. Where she severed and wholeheartedly enjoyed praise and worship service. She was a member of the Usher Board, until her health began to decline.

On June 8, 1963, in Galveston, Texas Jannie was united in holy matrimony to the late Richard Woods until his death. After several years she relocated back to Riverside and began working for The Vincent Family as a resort clerk and housekeeper for Bethy Creek Resort for many years until she retired.

On May 5, 2010, she moved from Riverside to Houston to be with her two daughters Cynthia Tubbs and Bicili Pryor so they could give her the love and care she needed at that time. Even through all the major health challenges she endured she always kept a smile on her face and always willing to help others. She enjoyed singing, fishing, spending quality time with her twin sister and family, along with watching her favorite sport WWE Wrestling. She had a strong work ethic and a generous heart. Her lighthearted laughter and easy going spirit will be greatly missed by all.

With her mind focused on eternal life, Jannie made her transition on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She earned her wings when she proudly walked across the line that separates Earth from Heaven. As she went on to meet her Master and loved ones, she showed no fear.

There to greet her upon arrival and eternity were her parents Bicili and Lee Williams, her husband, Richard Woods; and three sisters, Corenia Collins, Clara McCann, and Cornelius Williams

Her memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones; her twin sister Fannie Lewis; two daughters Cynthia Tubbs and Bicili Pryor; five grandchildren Dexter Fennie, Dewun Hall II, Jasmine Pryor, Victoria Pryor, and Cody Pryor; three great-grandchildren Lovisa Johnson, Nevaeh Hall, and Carter Fennie; dear and special friend: Hattie Massey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
